Aurora and Sweet Pea are now at Petsmart!

Aurora and Sweet Pea (aka Artemis) are now at San Mateo Petsmart!

We are hopeful and confident we will find a really good home for them, especially now that we have some really cute pictures and videos that show how cute and playful they really are! When they are at cat adoption fairs they tend to be very shy and huddle in a corner together, so I'm glad we have these videos (embedded below) to show people - they really do open up and are playful, cute, sweet and affectionate. They just need some time to adjust to their environment and feel that they are safe and secure, and in a loving home with people who will love and adore them as much as we do! (We would love to keep them if we didn't already have cats... who aren't particularly fond of the younger additions!)

Aurora has been through so much - having lost one of her babies (who was hit by a car before we got her) and then having wandered the street for two months... then having lost her second litter (we will never know what happened to them). After all she's been through, we really want her to have a great home.

It would be ideal if she could have a situation where she could go outside on the porch or in a fenced-in backyard, and get some sunshine (she stares out the window a lot, longing to be able to roam around like she used to). We were letting her outside for a little while, until my neighbor complained about how they were stalking the birds next door, and her feral indoor cat would scratch and hiss when the kitties would go near her window. One day her cat bit and scratched her.... and that was the end of that.

You can see videos of Aurora and Sweet Pea below.

It's really cute how Aurora's tail gets big and bushy when she's startled by something... even her own mischeviousness!

You can visit the kitties at Petsmart on Sundays while we are having our adoption fairs. We have them almost every Sunday from 1-4. Petsmart is located at 3520 South El Camino Real, in San Mateo, just south of the Barnes and Noble bookstore at the Hillsdale Shopping Center. You can also view them through the window any time Petsmart is open.

Please note that they are still very shy and a little freaked out about being at the Petsmart, so if you go to visit them, they will likely be pretty reserved and cautious (Aurora much more than Sweet Pea). But let me assure you that once they do come out of their shells, they are both very, very sweet.

Aurora will probably always have a pretty shy personality. She does let me pick her up and pet her, but only for a minute or so.  She will let my husband stick out his hand and she will sniff it and that's it. I am saying all this to just tell you up front, whoever adopts her will have to have a lot of patience and be ok with the fact that she may always be on the shy side.

But that's not a bad thing! It just warms my heart even more when I see her feeling comfortable enough to stretch, relax, and play.

The adoption fee for both cats is $150. The fee includes all their vaccinations and paperwork.  They have both been spayed and microchipped.

Best regards,

Laura

And here are some more recent videos of Aurora and Sweet Pea at Petsmart:. They both LOVE to be rubbed and petted. Please note that the do shed! As all cats do... but you can really see it in some of these videos. They love it so much though... it's worth it, and giving them regular massages really keeps them happy and helps them feel safe and trust you.

OK so maybe this is not the best video ever but she really does play with the Cat Dancer.

This is a video of Sweet Pea catching and eating a pantry moth. She is very agile and has always been very good at catching things, more than most other cats.  Her current roommate at Petsmart, Ginger, hisses and her (and her mom) sometimes, so you'll hear that at the end.
